Hospice Calendar Wins Award!
Story by Ron Jay Abramson
NCFPC members donated images for use in the 2008 Hospice Calendar which has now won a Bronze Award in the 2008 Mature Media Awards Program! The Bronze is a 3rd place finish in a national competition.
NCFPC member Jay Abramson was approached in early 2007 by Lila Ivey, the Director of Community Outreach for Hospice of Marion County, to shoot a calendar to celebrate Hospice of Marion County’s 25th anniversary. Originally, it was to be comprised of images taken in Marion county. After seeing some of the posters and calendars that have motivational messages, she decided to take that approach, and also decided to open the images to any and all subjects or locations. She also approved and encouraged me to solicit the camera club members to participate. The members who offered images were Leroy Simon, Susan Henry and Jay.
Anyone who has seen the calendar knows it has some very nice images in it. NCFPC supplied all but three images including the cover! The back cover features images from the club’s prior year’s community service project which consisted of club members donating images of butterflies to be printed and framed, and which now grace the walls of the four hospice houses, Sylvia’s House, Estelle’s House, Legacy House and Tuscany House.
